Welcome to Coloring Beirut!

Coloring Beirut is a knowledge exchange platform set up by the Beirut Urban Lab (BUL), a research center based at the Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at the American University of Beirut (AUB) and the Lebanese National Council for Scientific Research (LNCSR). The project falls within BUL’s larger mission to collect, visualize, analyze, and make accessible data on Beirut built environment. Coloring Beirut aims to provide open and dynamic data on the city's built environment. In this first phase of the project, we are working to collect, combine, generate, and verify data about the physical characteristics of the building stock within the Municipal boundaries of the capital city.

Coloring Beirut is inspired by the Colouring London project, an open source knowledge exchange platform established at the University College London. The project relies on the open-source platform developed by the Colouring London team that was adapted to fit the characteristics and conditions of Lebanon’s capital city.
